Star San is considered a must have sanitizer by homebrewers. It is an acid based sanitizer that can be used on most materials except softer metals. It is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. Because Star San is a high foamer, the foam gets and stays in contact with hard to reach surfaces, ensuring contact time during the sanitizing process. Since the foam is non-toxic, you can use Star San as a no rinse sanitizer.

To mix Star San for a spray application, it is best to use distilled or RO water to maximize the life of the unused portion (minerals in tap water reduce the shelf life of Star San once in solution). Use: 1 oz per 5 gallons of water and a contact time of 1 minute.
