This 2 Micron Diffusion Stone has a easier to sanitize design!

Homebrewers have always struggled when it comes to sanitizing their diffusion stones. The barbs make it difficult to disconnect from the tubing for sanitizing, and touching the stone with your fingers will clog the pores of the stone.

In order to make removing the stone quick and easy, we added threads instead of a barb, and now you can use the fittings you see at the bottom of this page to connect and disconnect your tubing. This allows you to place the stone by itself directly in a pot of boiling water to sanitize.

To Sanitize:

To properly sanitize your stones, we recommend you run it in a sanitized solution for 5 minutes. If the stone becomes clogged we recommend boiling the stone for 1-3 minutes to help break down anything within it.

Important Notes:

Do not touch the stainless stone portion with your hands. The oils on your fingers will clog the small pores in the stone. The stone does not come with the barb fitting or flare nut - those will have to be purchased on their own. See the Related Items below.

The 2 Micron size is more commonly used for aeration or oxygenation pre fermentation, but can be used to carbonate beer. If you wish to use an aquarium style Aeration Pump to pump air through this stone we recommend a "deep water" type for aquariums, as these will have the necessary PSI to force the air through the stone and into the wort.
