Santo Giordano Vineyard is located in the Carneros AVA next to San Pablo Bay, across Arnold Drive from the Gloria Ferrer Vineyard. The vines are cooled by morning fog and the influx of afternoon marine air.
Sangiovese is the primary grape in Tuscany’s Chianti wine. Our California Sangiovese is grown in a region sufficiently hot to allow full sugar and phenolic development while maintaining fresh acidity. These grapes were originally planted for use by Sam and Vicki Sebastiani’s Italian oriented Viansa winery located next door to the vineyard. These grapes provide for a deep, rich Sangiovese when blended with up to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot or even Syrah a deeper wine will result.
Santo Giordano Vineyard 2017 Sangiovese notes:

Below please find some notes associated with our recommended yeast strains for use with this fruit. It is important to note that any yeast will in fact perform the fermentation, however these strains have consistently performed well and produced flavors that our customers have been very happy with. To that end, the "correct" yeast strain is simply the one that sounds to you as though it will make the flavors that you are looking for in your wine.
You can add the yeast strain of your choice from the "You Might Also Need" section below. We also strongly recommend the use of the additive pack that you will see listed in this section as it will help enhance the quality of the wine you produce. Order one packet of yeast and one additive pack per pail of must or juice.
BM45 - One of the best all-around choices for Sangiovese. With big mouthfeel, plum, fruit jam, rose, and cherry liquor, along with earthy and spicy notes. Good colour stability and helps to minimize vegetative characters.
MT - Color intensity, tannic structure, and mid-palate enhancement stressed, along with berry, red fruits and floral notes being emphasized in a Sangiovese.
ICV-GRE - Brings fresh, berry fruit foreword along with good mouthfeel. Useful for adding fresh fruit to a blend. Effective for reducing herbaceous and vegetal notes in under-ripe fruit.
