Cafe de Dona Ella Gourmet Coffee
Almost all of the gourmet coffee available to consumers today does not provide details about the location and specific growing conditions of the coffee. Cafe de Dona Ella is different. Manuel A. Santana-Bendix, a resident of Flagstaff, AZ who owns a small coffee farm in the highlands of El Salvadore, provides it to us. His high altitude farm uses only the best arabica trees that produce the highest quality gourmet coffee beans. He is able to provide this gourmet coffee directly from his farm to us.
Rather than using chemicals for insect and plant control, Mr. Santana-Bendix uses only biological controls (wasps and mechanical thinning). The coffee is shade grown under a mixed canopy (great for birds), and is processed by hand on the farm, employing several workers at fair wages. The coffee is roasted in El Salvador under Manuel's supervision. The result is a Gourmet-ranked coffee.
Cafe de Dona Ella coffee comes in several different roasts and was an award winner (18th place) in the 2004 edition of the "Cup of Excellence" international juried competition.

"Water-processed" beans are stripped of their outer fruit, soaked in water for 24 hours to remove all fruit sugar and then dried in the sun. "Water-processed" beans tend to be slightly mellower in flavor than "Sun-dried" beans.

Vienna Roast Gourmet Coffee - Sun-Dried Process - 1lb
Whole Vienna Roast coffee beans direct from the farm of Manuel A. Santana-Bendix in El Salvador. 1 pound. "Sun-dried" beans are laid directly in the sun to dry before the outer fruit is removed. This process causes some of the fruit sugar to dry on the bean. "Sun-dried" beans have a more robust / acidic flavor than "water-processed" beans.
